Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins How do you top The Hunger Games? Send Katniss and Peeta back into the Arena of course!!!

At the end of the first book there was a terrible feeling of foreboding. That Katniss had defied the Capitol and was waiting for President Snow to get his revenge.

Things are changing, the Districts are trying fight back and Katniss is trying to hold onto her sanity. As the victors of the Hunger Games Katniss and Peeta have to go on a victory tour of all the districts and Katniss is told very clearly that she must behave or her family (and Gale) will suffer. Regardless of how she behaves several of the Districts try to defy the Capitol with terrible consequences. The outpouring of support when Katniss comes face to face with Rue's family is truely heartbreaking.

District 12 is now under the control of new Peacekeepers, the electric fence is switched on and Gale is punished for hunting. Things are changing. That includes the Hunger Games. The 75th games are approaching - a Quarter Quell, a special games that occurs every 25 years and the twist this time? The tributes have to be picked from each districts previous victors - no matter what happens Katniss is going back into the Arena and of course Peeta won't let her go alone.

He tries to protect her, by telling everyone during the pre-games interviews that they have already got married and Katniss is pregnant. But why is it that some of the other tributes seem determined to keep Katniss and Peeta alive? Will they make it out alive?

Interesting - very interesting.
